Report cards will be mailed out next Tuesday providing that your child does not have an existing balance. If you did not send in an envelope for the report card to be mailed to you, you will need to come to the front office to pick it up. It has been a great year! Today was such a fun day! The students have made poetry books in celebration of the poetry unit that we have wrapped up. Today we had an impromptu poetry reading. It was great! The talent in our room is simply amazing. Please take a moment to let them share some of their poems with you.

Next week is the finale! It has been a great year of learning and fun! On Monday we are asking students to bring 2 books from home to read during the day. We are going to be doing a fun activity and they will need books to read. Additionally, Monday will be the last day that they will need their backpacks.

Tuesday and Wednesday are both early release days. Dismissal starts at 12:30. Please remember if your child has a change of transportation you MUST send in a note or change of transportation form. We CAN NOT accept emails or messages via Remind as an official change.

Reminder...there will be an OPEN BOOK science test on Monday covering chapters 7 and 8. Please have your child read this over in addition to their notes this weekend. There will be no retakes for this assessment as it is OPEN BOOK. If your child does not bring their book to use on Monday, there will not be any extra available for them. We have exactly 1 for each student. 

Please have your child return all textbooks on Monday. We are beginning our end of the year inventory.

Directions: In order to complete this project, you will need to use what you have learned during our poetry unit so far and what you have learned about Westward Expansion in Social Studies.

You will create 1 Couplet Poem, 1 Triplet Poem and 1 Acrostic Poem. Examples of each type of poem can be found on the back of this paper. You may also refer to the notes we took in class. Each poem will use information from Social Studies Chapter 10, lessons 1-4, your Social Studies notes and your study guide from chapter 10) USE THE RUBRICS below to be sure that you have included everything necessary in order to receive full credit.  You will receive a Social Studies grade for the Social Studies content. This week in science, we are covering Ecosystems (Ch.7) and Adaptations (Ch. 8). (S4L1 a-d and S4L2 a-b).  Students received vocabulary words for Ch. 7 and will be having a vocabulary quiz on Thursday, May 11th.  Students will be having an open book test on the material from Ch. 7 and Ch. 8 on Monday, May 15th.  Due to this being an open book test, there will NOT be an option for a retake test.

Tomorrow is Dress Down Day for $1.

Next Thursday we will be having a Social Studies Test on Westward Expansion. The students were given study guides and their homework has been to study their study guide and notes and to review chapter 10 (which we are also reading together in class). They are to bring home their Social Studies journals every night and they are more than welcome to bring home their Social Studies books as well, or they may access them online. We have also reminded them that if they want to read in the Social Studies book, that would also meet the requirement of reading for 30 minutes and they can log that time on their reading log.

Parents, we need your assistance. We are having many instances throughout the day of classmates not being kind and disrespectful to not only each other, but adults throughout the building. Typically this would be something that we would obviously just handle on an individual basis, however it is a problem that is becoming more widespread and we felt it important to bring to everyone's attention.  We have approximately 4  more weeks of learning left and we want the students to work just as hard in these last few weeks, as they have throughout the year. Please speak with your student about the importance of finishing the year strong and being respectful to all.

Additionally, we want to bring something to your attention. We have heard lots of chatter among the students lately about how they contact each other through various apps and social media platforms and it is starting to become a disruption at school. Continuous disruptions by students in the classroom, could potentially result in being written up. What students do outside of the classroom is not under our control, however when it causes a disruption in the classroom, it is something that we must attend to. Please speak with your children about internet safety, internet bullying and remind them to be careful who they speak with through these outlets and encourage them to report anything to you that is unkind or not appropriate. 

Progress Reports are coming home today. Please sign and return by Wednesday May 2nd.

Please send your child to school in the shoes that you would like them to wear all day. Please do not allow them to bring multiple pairs of shoes.

Braves Opening Week! 

We are very excited to have a partnership with the Braves Organization, as they have become our neighbors. The Braves have been kind enough to donate several items for the school to give to students. There will be a weekly drawing for students. In order to be included in the drawing, we are asking students to donate canned/nonperishable food items. With each item donated, the student will have their name placed in the drawing 1 time. (So, if they donate 5 items, their name will be placed in the drawing 5 times etc)

Friday April 14th...
To support opening day this Friday, students will be allowed to wear any Braves shirt or Braves colors that they have. 

Please do not allow your child to bring toys or distracting items to class. We are still having items brought in that are becoming a distraction (goop, nonprescription glasses, and a variety of toys). We want to do our best to keep all students focused during class time. Thank you for your help with this matter.


 Remember that if your child qualifies to retake an assessment, they will be bringing home a retake packet. If they would like to retake the assessment they must complete the practice work attached, have a parent signature on the form attached and return the packet by the date indicated. No late packets will be accepted. 

 Next Wednesday we will begin Milestone testing. Please ensure that your child gets plenty of sleep, eats a good breakfast, arrives to school on time, and brings a healthy snack. More information will be posted soon about next week's testing.
