Parents,
Today was our Valentine's exchange. Needless to say there was a lot of candy passed out. We requested that all candy be nut free. However, to be on the safe side we instructed all students several times NOT to eat ANY sweets received until their parents checked their candy in the event the candy contained something they were allergic to. Please check your child's sweets before they consume it.

Learning Agenda for this week:

Math- Express a fraction with a denominator of 10 as an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100. (NF5)

Reading-Integrate information from two texts on the same topic in order to write or speak about the subject knowledgeably. (RI9)

Writing- Opinion writing- (4W1)

Science- Light and Sound (SP1 / SP2)--Test on Friday. Students will get a Study Guide on Monday.

ELA- No Spelling Tests this week. 

Kindness Awareness Week

February 13-17, 2017

 Monday: No Place for Hate Day J

                                 Classes will sign the “No Hate for Place Pledge”. 

 Tuesday: Celebrate Valentine’s Day

Have a heart; be kind.  You’ll receive hearts in your class to give to someone. Wear a red or pink shirt to celebrate Valentine’s Day & Kindness Week. (Standard school attire still applies!)

 Wednesday: Caught Being Kind

Be extra kind today! School staff will be giving stickers to kids “Caught Being Kind”. 

 Thursday: School Kindness Day

Make a card for an adult at school who has done something kind for you.

 Friday: Spread kindness to our community

We’ll help the Cobb Co. Counselors’ Assoc. by collecting socks to donate to children in foster care!

Gimme 5 for Education

Once again, our school is participating in the “Gimme 5 for Education” campaign to raise funds for the Cobb Schools Foundation! The Cobb Schools Foundation is the only non-profit organization that supports all our schools, staff and students in the Cobb County School District. Please make a $5 tax-deductible contribution and return it to school in the attached envelope. You may also donate online at www.cobbschoolsfoundation.org Students who donate names will be placed in a raffle to receive two Braves tickets in the new stadium!

Good Afternoon Parents,

Here are a couple of reminders:

• The ABC's of the American Revolution projects N-Z are due tomorrow! This is a Social Studies grade.
• Spelling Test tomorrow.
• If students did not complete the Science classwork (answering questions #1-8 on p. 184 in their textbook), they are to complete it as homework. 
• Please check to see that your child has in fact completed his/her homework before signing off on it. We are having a Light Vocabulary Quiz tomorrow and as a part of homework for the past week and a half has been to study this vocabulary.  Unfortunately, today, we've had students who said that they haven't studied at all. (This also pertains to their spelling words that are given out at the beginning of each week.)
• If a student is given a retake packet in order to retake a test, the entire packet must be turned in by the date specified. If we do not have both a parent signature and completed practice work, a retake test will not be given.
