Wednesday, August 31, 2016

Wednesday, August 31st:

Reading:  Read for 30 minutes and complete Reading Log.

ELA:  Study spelling words and Capitalization Rules which are located in your ELA notebook.  Here is a link to the website we used in class today. You will have a quiz on Capitalization Rules tomorrow. Spelling test on Friday.

Math:  Practice Front Row Base 10 for 15 minutes.  Today, we started learning about using the standard algorithm for addition.  Here is the website for using virtual manipulatives to model using the standard algorithm.

Homework:
Each morning, students are responsible for writing their homework in their agenda for that day. Homework is a way to practice the skills and strategies we are learning in class and should be completed each night.  As forth grade students, they are responsible for completing homework and returning it the next day.  Students are also responsible for reading each night for 30 minutes and completing the Reading Log which requires a parent signature.

Also, agendas are to be signed each day as a form of communication, however it is the responsibility of the student to request a parent signature. If a student fails to complete homework, complete Reading log, or have agenda signed he or she will sign the Homework Book and will not be able to participate in the Homework Club at the end of that month.  Each month is a fresh start and students have the opportunity to join the new Homework Club upon completing all assignments each night. We appreciate your support in encouraging responsibility and independence in regards to homework.

Retake Notice
During Open House, Mrs. Wallace and I informed you that if your child scored an "F" on a test, he or she would have the opportunity to retake the test.  In order for students to retake the test, he or she must complete the review packet and have a parent signature on the Retake Notice form.

Retake packets were sent home yesterday and the work must be completed and returned by the date specified on the Retake Notice in order for your child to retake the test.  If you would like for your child to have additional practice on a particular standard or skill, please utilize the links on the blog or please feel free to utilize any of the educational resources available online.
